Baleno International is pleased to present Hinterland, the first show in Italy of Swiss born artist Isadora Vogt (*1992, Zurich). 

The artist draws extensively from the memories of her childhood experience and the time spent with her relatives in the outskirts of Milan, where part of her family still lives. 

Her paintings, collages and drawings combine folkloristic and fairytale motifs with Fraktur typeface and historical references. Through found objects and other archival materials, like stationary paper, cutouts and  photographic references, she combines various techniques and display strategies to juxtapose meanings from different contexts. Often what seems innocent, vulnerable and cute appears potentially threatening and the domestic sphere takes on an uncanny dimension.

Isadora Vogt lives and works in Basel, Switzerland. In 2021 she received her MA in Painting at the Royal College of Arts in London. She has shown her work in national and international exhibitions. Her most recent exhibitions include solo shows at Sundy Gallery (London, 2021) and Sentiment (Zurich, 2021); and group shows at Derosia Gallery (New York, 2022), Union Pacific (London, 2021), Kunsthalle Basel (Basel, 2020) and Weiss Falk Gallery (Basel, 2020).
